Twenty-first century students face a different environment and have different expectations than previous generations. They also have different challenges ahead. Today's students expect to be able to experience things, and it is perhaps their preferred mode of learning. Students must be engaged in the creation of authentic knowledge products, collaborating with peers as well as people across the globe. Only a 21st - century education focused on developing 21st - century skills will do for these learners.

The Responsive Classroom:
The best way to help students master new literacy skills is by teaching them from within the new information environment ... through the interplay of technology, pedagogy and digital content. Wesley Fryer
